The Senedd’s Children, Young People and Education (CYPE) Committee has published a paper (PDF) it commissioned from Dr Sofya Lyakhova at Swansea University on remote teaching and learning. The work was undertaken under the Senedd Research COVID-19 Expert Register scheme, through which relevant academics assist the Senedd with its work relating to the COVID-19 pandemic and its impacts, with a particular focus on Wales.

The CYPE Committee requested the study to inform its inquiry into the impact of the Covid-19 outbreak on children and young people in Wales, earlier in the summer before the Welsh Government announced that pupils would return to school full-time in September. Whilst it believes any future closure of schools should only be as a last resort, the CYPE Committee has submitted the report to the Welsh Government (PDF) so it can inform the contingency planning Wales’ public services are undertaking.
