New Publication: The Financial Education and Inclusion (Wales) Bill

In July 2013, Bethan Jenkins AM, Plaid Cymru, was successful in a ballot to introduce a Proposed Member Bill seeking to promote financial literacy amongst the general population in Wales. Bethan introduced the Financial Education and Inclusion (Wales) Bill in July 2014. The main policy objective of the Bill is to equip people in Wales with the necessary financial knowledge and capability they need to manage their financial circumstances effectively. This paper provides an overview of the Bill’s main objectives and provisions and describes some relevant policy developments in Wales.
