Today marks the beginning of Anti-Bullying week, an annual UK wide awareness raising event. The Welsh Government has previously issued a range of publications in respect of bullying. These include the Respecting Others: Anti-bullying Guidance published in 2003 and the Respecting Others: Anti-bullying overview - Guidance published in 2011. Data on the incidence of bullying is not routinely published. The All Wales Survey of Bullying in Schools published in 2009, gathered information from over 7,000 children and young people. A Survey into the Prevalence and Incidence of School Bullying in Wales was subsequently published by the Welsh Government in 2010. To coincide with the start of anti-bullying week, Barnardo's Cymru has launched the findings of their own survey of over 600 children and young people, undertaken between September and November 2013. Their survey suggests that that more than half of children in Wales have witnessed bullying based on disability, sexuality or cultural background.
